Canada Pushes U.K. to Join New Defence Bank

Canadians are now pressurizing the British under the leadership of their new prime minister, Andy Burnham, to be one of the founding members of the proposed Defense, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB). Proposed for implementation by 2027, this bank will seek to consolidate funds and provide cheap loans to countries that want to enhance the production of military equipment and meet increasing NATO financial requirements. As Canadians including the High Commissioner Bill Blair, Prime Minister Mark Carney, and other cabinet ministers are making efforts to sell this idea to the British in London, British officials including the new Defence Secretary Wes Streeting and Finance Minister John Healey are assessing this option.
